Paige Daly, Editor – The ceremony for the Lecanto High School [LHS] graduating class of 2019 was held Thursday, May 30. This year’s graduates received their diplomas and had their accomplishments honored as their friends and family watched on. They were also joined by the teachers and staff who guided them throughout their high school careers.
With seniors now heading off to attend their colleges of choice, some feel saddened at the fact that their fellow panthers will no longer be a short distance away.
“[Graduation] is something that has always seemed so far away, but now we are finally done. It is sad to think that some of the people that I would get to see everyday are going to be so far away,” said senior Liz-Beth Chiavetta.
Graduates took the time to not only be proud of how far they have come, but to also reminisce on the memories they made in the past four years.
“My favorite LHS moments were with the LHS soccer team. Making it all the way to the elite eight and then the final four was a dream come true, I will never forget it,” said senior Kaitlin Zoucha.
Math teacher and coach Danny Allan sees graduation as one last nod to all the determination and dedication the seniors have put into their classes to achieve the ultimate goal of receiving their diplomas.
“[Graduation] is a culmination of all the hard work, all the classes they have put effort into, and everything they have achieved over their years in high school,” said Allan.
LHS has always offered assistance to students in order to lead them in the right direction. Senior Henry Licklider believes that underclassmen and upcoming seniors should not be afraid to ask for help as long as they put in the work.
“There are many teachers and staff at LHS that are more than willing to give their time and effort to ensure you do the best you can,” said Licklider. “All you have to do is give them your all.”
