This 2017 girls’ and boys’ tennis season has been a great run. Over the past months, the boys’ team has competed in 16 matches and is undefeated. The girls also had an outstanding season, placing second at districts.

Boys’ tennis coach Lance Baker said, “I’ve been coaching them since middle school. When they were younger, I could occasionally beat them, but now I can’t even come close!”

The boys competed in the districts and regionals and performed very well. Freshman Malik Tahiri and sophomore Jackson King are advancing to states.

King said, “I was so happy with how we performed. I think we really played as good as we could and can’t wait for states!”

Tahiri also made it to states in singles.

Tahiri said, “One of my personal goals was to make it to states in singles and in doubles with my partner Jackson. The team has really brought out the best in me, and we always have a good game, win or lose.”

Freshman Julia Javier won her first two matches at districts 6-0, 6-0.

“We had a great season and finished off the best we could,” Javier said. “We had goals of all playing hard and having fun, and I think we accomplished that!”
