Sean Slowey, Staff Writer – This 2016-17 school year, Lecanto High School (LHS) has a new principal, Jason Koon.
Koon said that he plans to improve school leadership by increasing the school’s communication. Koon also said that he thinks Panthers need to celebrate when they are successful.
“No matter how big or small the success is, I want every student to feel successful [in order] to exclude the thought that failure is an option,” said Koon.
LHS freshman Kessid Vanderhar said, “His plans show that he is very responsible and that he constantly works to improve not only school leadership but himself and others.”
Kathy Androski has a positive opinion about Koon’s plans.
“I would agree, we should create an environment where every Panther is successful also to create a more positive environment,” said Androski.
Teachers are positive about the new change in leadership, although some have some tongue-in-cheek suggestions for improvements. Math teacher Victoria Wyka said she thinks that Koon should provide tea and biscuits (English cookies) every day in the teachers’ lounge for the staff.
