Tragic accident claims the life of Lecanto High School graduate

Lindsay Hurston – Staff Writer. Early Tuesday morning, July 28, 2015, Lecanto High School [LHS] graduate Cheyenne Biggs passed away in a fatal car accident.

Cheyenne was known for her involvement in sports at Lecanto, participating avidly in basketball, volleyball, softball and track, nearly breaking the track record her senior year. “No” was never in this girl’s vocabulary; she continuously pushed herself and her peers to do their best. Cheyenne was also a positive addition to the spring 2015 newspaper staff, bringing everyone smiles and laughter the minute she walked into class. She always had everyone’s best interest at heart, she treated everyone with kindness, and she carried herself with grace. What happened to Cheyenne is truly heartbreaking; she is loved by many, and she will never be forgotten. For Prowl staff members, this terrible accident shows that we should all cherish the people around us while they are here.

LHS graduate Lizzie Schramm is focusing on the good memories she had with Cheyenne.

“She could light up a room like no other. And as our Lecanto class of 2015 song says, “We’ll see you again, Chey,” Schramm said.

Cheyenne was young, and it’s truly tragic to see such a bright and motivated person taken from the world so quickly. She was a beautiful girl and her life and memories will be cherished forever.

LHS graduate Kendal Stark was in the car with Cheyenne and is currently in critical condition. Both teens were a part of the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program during their years at LHS.
