Daniel Patrick, Staff Writer – Citrus Springs Middle School and the Lecanto School of Art will be hosting the SALSA art camp with June 1 to 5 from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. daily for students in kindergarten through 9th grade.
The SALSA camp was formed to provide students with the experience of visual arts. Participants will be able to paint t-shirts, work with clay, weave, cook in the cooking lab to create an Italian feast, fuse glass bowls, work with copper, and complete other exciting projects. Half of the funds raised from this camp will be used to better the Lecanto School of Art program, and the other half will go to “Friends of CSMS,” which is a staff appreciation fund.
One student who is looking forward to this camp is LHS student freshman Sidney Berkey.
“I’m going there to help out,” Berkey said. “I think the admission is about $125. There is going to be a lot of fun stuff there, so everyone in kindergarten through ninth grades should come and check it out.”
Fellow LHS freshman Tylor Heatley is also attending the camp.
“This will be my third year of going to the camp. I like art. I don’t know anyone going, but that’s my favorite part, meeting new people. I’m planning on meeting new people and making new friends who have similar interests as me,” Heatley said.
Registration forms must be completed by May 14 and can be obtained by e-mailing Lee Partin at firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost is $125 per student, and lunch is provided each day.
