LHS boys’ swim team brings home a win

The Lecanto High School [LHS]  boys’ swim team had their first meet of the season Aug. 29, 2013, at the Bicentennial Pool in Crystal River. The final score of the boys’ meet against  South Lake High School [SLHS] was 131-47.

Many members of the boys’ swim team believed they earned an incredible triumph from their victory on their first swim meet.

“The first meet was a great start to the season, but it’s only the beginning and we’re just getting warmed up,” said senior Sanjay Chakkoli.

“It went pretty well for only having two weeks of practice beforehand. It definitely showed us what we need to work on, though, for later in the season,” said junior Lane Ramsey. Some members of the boys’ swim team such as Ramsey had excellent feelings about upcoming new season.

“I’m feeling really confident; our girls’ team has a lot of freshman talent and are looking very strong,” said Ramsey. “And the guys’ team is recovering from many lost seniors. The lower classmen are realizing they are going to have to step up.”

Although the team lost many strong swimmers, the current swimmers still believe that the team is still very strong all together.

“We lost a lot of really good swimmers from last year, but I believe we’re still a really good team,” said sophomore Justin Sarris.

“Our team faces adversity at the loss of our stronger senior members, but we stepped up and certainly made a point that Lecanto is a force to be reckoned with,” said Ramsey.
